The spell checker lets you add custom words to a dictionary, but, it can only use one dictionary at a time to check spelling. Their spell checker creates a squiggly line to tell you that you have a misspelled word, but, doens't allow you to correct it.Ģ.
#Uda construction suite and on time tech software#
"You mean, I can't do THAT with UDA, but I can do it with any other basic software out there?" was a common comment running through my head.ġ. Some are major things, and some are very minor annoyances that will drive you nuts. While they have a beautiful user interface, there are some serious flaws under the hood. If your decision hasn't been made, let me say: DON'T DO IT! I made a serious mistake when I bought UDA. It does not do what it promises to, and there are dozens of annoying quirks. So being able to search a database using keywords would be a good start.

And sometimes, that is made more difficult by me not being able to describe technically the facts of the type of problem I'm having. As it is now I find it time consuming and cumbersome to wade through several training videos to find an inkling of relevance to a topic of a problem I'm trying to figure out. It would be helpful to have a linked directory of keywords to search the video training series. Sometimes, when I am in a support session with a tech, it doesn't inspire confidence in the sense of the software's user-friendliness when they seem to struggle finding a location, knowing why something functions in a certain way, or knowing why it's set up that way.
#Uda construction suite and on time tech update#
This year, when I was required to update to a newer version because my 2011 version was not supported anymore, I ended up losing a lot of data and functions that I finally had dialed in to my system, and now I am backpedaling and having to re-learn new things. It took me a long time (several years) to familiarize myself and set up my database and templates from versions dating back to 2007 or so. There's a steep learning curve to using it, and it does not help that UDA is constantly changing their system. In my humble opinion, this is the best Construction Management package out there. In my organization, UDA Construction Suite is a "Best in Class" package that definitely contributes to our success. As time passed, through many iterations of the software, version revisions, and new functionality, UDA support has been right there to assist and answer any and all questions that I might have - working through issues and always checking in with a follow up call to be sure that my problem has been resolved. Once I did sign on, UDA technical support made the process of installing and configuring the software a snap. All of my questions were answered, but most impressive to me was that there was absolutely no pressure to purchase until I was comfortable with the value that UDA would bring to my company. From my first phone call for information on the Construction Suite package, it was clear that these folks had their act together, and understood my needs. That was the case before I signed on to UDA Construction Suite. From the extensive spreadsheet based estimating, to the integration of up-to-the-minute data on materials, to the ability to post and manage projects online, it's all here.Īs in all of my major purchases, I do a lot of homework before making a decision. Now that I am working in an environment that is both much more competitive, and infinitely more complex, Construction Suite is indispensable in preparing and managing my projects. I had used UDA Construction Suite for a number of years prior to arriving in the city, and it always provided a high level of organization in preparing bids and managing my projects. This iteration of my company, now six years in the NYC metropolitan area, is predominantly engaged in the renovation of residential townhouses and doing very sophisticated architectural detail work. As a builder for over forty years with a Masters in Construction Management, I like to think that my approach to construction projects is organized and well managed.
